Living at Illinois State University

Our housing options are tailored to meet the needs of international students. These include on-campus residences, university-owned apartments and off-campus housing. On-campus housing options include residence halls like Watterson Towers, Hewett-Manchester and Tri-Towers. These residence halls offer furnished rooms and great amenities. They’re also within walking distance of academic buildings.

Upperclassmen and graduate students may stay at the university apartments. These provide more independence and are just a short walk from the main campus. If you’d prefer to live off-campus, our Off-Campus Services can help you find suitable off-campus housing. Our database also lists available apartments and subleases.

Flexible and healthy meal plans

All students living in on-campus residence halls must have a student meal plan. If you live in Cardinal Court, where each apartment has a full kitchen, meal plans are optional. Students living off campus may also purchase an off-campus meal plan. Our Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality team offers fresh, nutritionally balanced meals every day. There are options for many dietary needs, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and more.
